Grant for community group

SOUTH Kirkby kids will enjoy a diamond jubilee party and a trip to an animal park thanks to a community grant.

Park Estate, Convent Avenue, and Burntwoood Estate residents association (PECABE) will use the £852 grant from Wakefield and District Housing to pay for a diamond jubilee party and a trip to Yorkshire Wildlife Park in Doncaster.

Ann Holliday, PECABE treasurer, said: “We do a lot of work in the local area to provide acitivities for young peope to enjoy, but these things come at a cost.

“We are extremely grateful to WDH for providing the community grant, because it means we can provide these kids with experiences that they will never forget.”

WDH engagement officer Jane Gwilliam said: “Our community grant scheme helps local groups find vital funding for their activities, and we are delighted to be able to support groups such as PECABE because of the wonderful work they do in the area.”
