Cycling fever is continuing across the district following last month’s Tour De France.
Wakefield Council, in association with British Cycling, is helping people to get on their bikes with a number of guided cycle rides with varying paces - easygoing for families, steady rides with a bit more pace and challenging for advanced riders.
A steady-paced bike ride will set off from Hemsworth Water Park from 2pm on Sunday, August 10, and there will be an easygoing cycle at Nostell Priory from 10.15am on Sunday, August 24.
Coun Les Shaw, cabinet member for culture, leisure and sport said: “With many sporting events taking place including the Commonwealth games and the huge success of The Tour De France now is the perfect opportunity for everyone to get inspired and join in the cycling fun.
“Come and enjoy the wonderful scenery of Wakefield whilst having fun getting fit and active.
“We also have rides suiting people of different abilities – now is a great chance to get on your bike this summer.”
