A vicious ‘gang attack’ took place on two men as they walked home from a party after seeing in 2013.
Police said two 26-year old victims were walking along Westfield Lane, South Elmsall, during the early hours of New Year’s Day when they were assaulted.
Both men were on their way home from a private party when they were allegedly attacked by the gang of eight which included seven men and a woman.
The men were knocked down several times and the attack allegedly continued while they were on the ground before the pair managed to escape.
They were taken to hospital for treatment to facial wounds.
Detectives are appealing for witnesses and said that they want to speak to a teenage girl.
She is aged between 16 and 19, with shoulder length curly hair, styled to the side at the front and was about 5ft 7ins and slim.
She was wearing light grey jogging bottoms, a dark hooded top and a dark coloured bodywarmer-style jacket.
Police said the other suspects were slim to medium build and between 16 to 20 years of age.
After the attack the group are thought to have run off up Westfield Lane.
The incident took place between 4am and 7am on Tuesday, January 1.
Detectives said that officers were carrying out high-visibility patrols in the area and investigations were ongoing.
Three men aged 18, 23 and 24 were arrested on suspicion of assault and have been released on bail pending further enquiries.
