THE RAIN did not dampen the spirits of Havercroft and Ryhill residents when they attended their annual gala.
There was a host of fun activities for youngsters to enjoy on Saturday, including Billy Bonkins the clown, giant Maximum, dodgeball, and a coconut shy.
Organiser Kenny Marshall, centre manager at Havercroft and Ryhill Sports Centre, where the event took place, said: “There was a great atmosphere and everyone seemed to be having a great time, especially as the rain had forced us to move the event into the sports hall.”
Local majorette group Ryecroft Angels, showed off their new outfits - thanks to new sponsors - in a fast-paced routine.
Shirley Priestley, committee member for the troupe said: “It went well and the girls really enjoyed themselves.”
Mystique majorettes also wowed the crowds with their energetic dance.
The Silver Leaf jazz band provided music and Ryhill Hammers Rugby Club swapped padding for pastries as they sold cakes on their stall.
Face painting and hair braiding were provided by Wakefield Youth Services.
