The future is looking brighter for little John James Michalowski and his family thanks to the support of the local community.
Readers have now raised more than £13,500 since the Express-backed campaign started four months ago.
The money will be used to buy specialist equipment for two-year-old JJ - who was left paralysed from the chest down after being injured in a head-on car crash.
JJ’s mum, Katy Michalowska said: “It’s been absolutely fantastic. The future is much brighter.
“We’ve ordered JJ’s wheelchair and he will be getting it when we go down to Stoke Mandeville Spinal Injuries Centre next week.
“During the next few weeks the staff will be helping him with his rehabilitation and he’ll learn how to transfer himself from his chair.
“We’re also getting him a special ‘flamingo’ chair which will help with his posture and can be used for various different things.
“The great thing about it is that it will grow with him so he shouldn’t need another one.”
The family has now moved to a house that is more suited to JJ’s needs. Mrs Michalowska added: “The new house is perfect.
“There’s lots of room for JJ to be able to get about in his new wheelchair and he can even access the garden.
“He’s also starting school in April which he’s excited about and he will be in his sister, Alicia’s, class for a couple of months which should help settle him in.”
“Some good has come from a horrendous situation in that we know he will be properly looked after and be able to live as normal a life as possible under the circumstances.”
