HOLY Batmobile! The producers of Batman Live world tour – coming to Sheffield’s Motorpoint Arena in August – have revealed the first glimpses of the spectacular show.
Batman Live will be staged in Sheffield for eight shows from August 10 to 14 as part of its first tour, encompassing the UK and Europe this summer and heading to north America next year.
The extravagant Gotham City production, based on DC Comics characters and stories, is currently in rehearsals in London. An impressive custom-made stage, 100ft bat-shaped LCD video wall and 3D Gotham City set have all been designed especially for the show.
Producers Warner Bros Consumer Products, DC Entertainment and Water Lane Productions have unveiled the Batmobile to whet audiences’ appetites. The aerodynamic, beautifully crafted brand new Batmobile has been designed specially for the show by legendary racing car designer, Prof Gordeon Murray, known for designing race cars for some of the most successful teams in the world for F1 racing, as well as the famous McLaren road car.
Anthony Van Laast, creative director, said: “It is so exciting to see Batman Live develop from an initial idea through to a full scale show.
“We are in rehearsals now and seeing all the elements of the production come together –automation, programming for the flying sequences, acting calls, acrobatic training, fight choreography, music composition.”
Brad Globe, president Warner Bros Consumer Products, added: “The world of Batman will be brought to the audience in a larger-than-life setting through this live stage show, which will captivate fans and enthrall audiences of all ages.”
Acrobats suspended in the air, fighting henchmen and stunning scenery are all part of the Batman Live experience.
Tickets for Batman Live cost £20-£45 and are available from www.motorpointarena.co.uk or by calling 0114 256 5656.
