Firefighters were called to a South Kirkby home after an electrical storm set off alarms.

A crew from South Elmsall Fire Station was called to Camp Road at around 8.30pm last night (Friday).

A spokesman said: “When you get electric storms there’s a lot of energy about. It didn’t hit the house, but all the alarms were going off and they couldn’t turn them off.”

He said the crew checked the home but found it was a false alarm.

Crews were also called out to a false alarm at Beacon House in Upton.
