Hundreds of families enjoyed a fun and festive light switch on in South Elmsall.
Youngsters enjoyed fairground rides, a Santa’s grotto, clowns and donkey rides.
The Christmas lights were switched on by the Mayor of South Elmsall, Coun Jack Thomas, and pupils from Ash Grove J&I, Carlton J&I, Moorthorpe Primary and St Joseph’s Catholic Primary schools.
There was also refreshments, a fireworks display and a Christmas-themed market, with stalls from local groups such as Save Minsthorpe Pool and the South Kirkby neighbourhood police team (NPT).
The event was organised by the South Elmsall Town Centre Partnership.
Brenda Graham, secretary of the partnership, said: “The event went really well - we even managed to get the lights switched on before the rain started. We had a good crowd turnout and good support from the NPT on the day.
“We asked local schools to each select two children to represent them in switching the lights on and they did a good job. We are really pleased with how the night went.”
