Featherstone Rovers’ season ended in disappointing fashion as they went down to a heavy defeat in their last Middle 8s game at London Broncos.

Hosts London missed out on a place in the million pound game as rivals Salford also won their final league game, but they ran in nine tries in a 46-6 success against Featherstone, who have finished without a win in the qualifiers.

The Broncos were 18-0 up by half-time and although Jon Sharp’s men kept going and got on the scoreboard after the break they were largely second best as they failed to avoid finishing bottom of the Middle 8s table.

Wales international winger Rhys Williams led the way for London with a hat-trick of tries while Daniel Harrison, Elliot Kear, Matt Garside, Ben Hellewell, Jack Bussey and Mark Ioane also touched down and Jamie Soward kicked five goals.

Featherstone trailed 42-0 before John Davies scored their only try and Danny Craven kicked a conversion.

Scorers - London: Tries Williams 3, Harrison, Kear, Garside, Hellewell, Bussey, Ioane; goals Soward 5. Featherstone: Try Davies; goal: Craven.
