A FAMILY has been left heartbroken after the puppy they bought for their two little boys was stolen just hours after moving in with them.

Michael Conway, 28 and Lindsay Knowles, 27, brought the eight-week-old Lasapoo into their home on Southmoor Road, Hemsworth, on Saturday evening.

They had bought the puppy, who they named Molly, for their two young sons, Alfie, seven, and Marley, three.

But when the family woke on Sunday morning they found they had been burgled and that Molly was missing, along with a purse and some cash.

Mr Conway said: “We’re not bothered about the money, we just want our dog back.

“We spent all of the Saturday night playing with her, she’s absolutely gorgeous and the boys loved her.

“We left the door unlocked, it was the one time we forgot to lock it, we are totally gutted.

“We’re completely heartbroken. We’re really worried about her and we just need to know that she’s alright, we’ve looked everywhere for her.”

As the family had only just bought fluffy white, pedigree puppy, she has not yet had her injections or been fitted with a tracking chip.

They have put posters up in their search for Molly around the area and are desperate for any information about her whereabouts.

Mr Conway added: “Police think it would have been someone trying door handles, so it could be someone local.

“Someone out there must know something - we just want her back.”

Police have appealed for any witnesses or anyone with information to contact them on the non-emergency number 101.
