WAKEFIELD Council’s leader, Coun Peter Box, is supporting a campaign to drive down energy prices.
Coun Box also wants to encourage the government to reconsider its decision to reduce winter fuel payments.
He said: “Many of our residents are at risk of falling into fuel poverty because of the reduction of winter fuel payments and the rise in energy prices. We need to protect the most vulnerable and stand up for the people of Wakefield.
“We will commit to helping residents get the best possible energy prices, not only by urging the government to step in, but by informing residents of how to switch suppliers, apply for grants and discounts and where to find advice on how to be fuel efficient.”
