Hemsworth MW bounced straight back to winning ways after their defeat at Emley as a Nash Connolly hat-trick helped them beat Rossington Main in Division One of the Toolstation NCE League.
A 4-0 success kept Wells 11 points clear of AFC Mansfield at the top with six games left to play.
Connolly gave them a flying start with a goal after just two minutes, but Rossington dug in and proved hard to break down until seven minutes before half-time when top scorer Bill Law came up with his 22nd goal of the season to make it 2-0.
Connolly then added his second on the stroke of half-time and Hemsworth had a healthy 3-0 lead.
It was comfortable for the league leaders after the break, but they could only add one more goal in the final minute when Connolly completed his hat-trick from the penalty spot to take his tally up to 17 for the season.
The victory took Hemsworth 13 points clear of third-placed Bottesford Town and they can clinch promotion with more wins in two games next week.
It could come as early as this Saturday if they can win away to fifth from bottom Hall Road Rangers (kick-off 3pm) and Bottesford lose to either play-off contenders Penistone Church in a game scheduled for last night or against Winterton Rangers on Saturday.
Hemsworth are also in action next Tuesday night when they are away to mid-table Dronfield Town (kick-off 7.45pm).
