A club for elderly people in Upton is November’s lucky winner of the Asda Yorkshire XDC Community Fund.
The Upton Over 60s Club picked up £100 from the fund, which is run in conjunction with the Hemsworth and South Elmsall Express.
The group meets at Upton Village Hall between 1pm and 4pm every Monday and has seven members aged between 70 and 92.
The club was nominated by Maria Hodgson, daughter of secretary Eileen Hodgson.
She said: “The access bus picks them all up and takes them to the hall where they play bingo and games and have a raffle.
“They each take something every week to eat and when their subs have built up they go out for a meal. The members would like to use the money to go on a trip to the seaside.”
The fund gives away £100 to a different community group from the south east every month.
To apply, write to Gemma Jimmison explaining a bit about your group and how the money would be used if you were successful.
Winning groups must be able to get to the Asda Distribution Centre, Elmsall Way, South Elmsall, at 10am on the first Monday of the relevant month.
