Hemsworth folk joined forces to help beat cancer as part of the Macmillan World’s Biggest Coffee Morning fundraising event.

Councillors and residents enjoyed a cuppa and a cake together at the Hemsworth Town Council Community Centre on Friday.

There was also a tombola and a guess the doll’s name game.

The event raised more than £200, which will be donated to Macmillan Cancer Support.

The World’s Biggest Coffee Morning is the charity’s largest fundraising event. In 2013, 154,000 people signed up, raising a record £20 million.

Coun Tony Upson, chairman of the town council, said: “It was a very enjoyable morning and it was well attended. We raised more than £200 so it was a good result for Macmillan as well.”
