YOUNGSTERS helped clean up their estate during half term before being rewarded with some sporting activities.

The children took part in a litter pick around the Park Estate area of South Kirkby as part of work being done to improve the neighbourhood. They then enjoyed rounders and volleyball games.

The event was organised by the Park Estate, Convent Avenue and Burntwood Estate (PECABE) Residents’ Association.

Organiser Betty Paxman said: “It was a fantastic day and the children really enjoyed it.

“We did collect quite a bit of litter but we are seeing a lot less around the estates since we started doing these events.

“The message is really getting through to the children and they are starting to take pride in their estate.”

The residents’ association is appealing for an artificial Christmas tree for the children to decorate during the festive season. Anyone who can help should call Mrs Paxman on 01977 652357.
