THREE popular acts will be performing in South Kirkby to raise money for a cancer charity.
Comedienne Christine Coles, male vocalist Ricky Graham and female vocal duo ‘Freshly Squeezed’ will be the star attractions at the Mill Lane Working Men’s Club on Friday, October 7. There will also be a raffle.
The concert will raise money for the Dr Jackson’s Cancer Fund, which was set up in 1977 by Hemsworth based GP, Dr Ken Jackson.
It has since has raised more than £1 million to help provide better and faster cancer care for patients who are being treated within by the Mid Yorkshire Hospitals NHS Trust.
The fund has paid for a range of specialist medical equipment, including a CT scanner at Pontefract General Infirmary, a mammography machine to locate breast abnormalities, an abdominal ultra sound scanner, a diathermy lance that removes lesions in the bladder and a scanner that helps diagnose prostrate cancer.
Doors to the South Kirkby concert open at 7pm and the acts will start at 8.30pm.
There are no tickets for the event - donations will be accepted on admission.
