Cabin set on fire by reckless yobs

ARSONISTS set fire to a cabin near the railway lines.

Police are appealing for information after the portable cabin went up in flames last Tuesday, at around 5.45pm, near the lines in Moorthorpe, close to the Langthwaite Industrial Park.

Fire crews extinguished the blaze and British Transport Police are hoping someone with information will come forward.

PC Gary Reader, investigating officer, said: “At this stage it appears that the fire was started deliberately.

“Thankfully no one was harmed on this occasion but reckless acts like this are not only extremely dangerous but can also cause major damage.

“We are appealing for anyone who may have seen anything suspicious at the time, or who knows who might be responsible, to come forward and speak to us.”

Anyone with information should call British Transport Police on 0800 40 50 40 or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111. In all calls please quote background log B11/NEA of 02/07/2012.
