The body of a man who was found dead by a canal in Dewsbury last month has now been identified.

Polish national Marcin Siarczylski was discovered near Low Mill Lane, Ravensthorpe, at around 9.15am on March 14.

But his death continues to be treated as unexplained and police want to speak to anyone who can provide information about Mr Siarczylski’s lifestyle or movements before his death.

Detective Chief Inspector Mark Swift, of West Yorkshire Police’s Homicide and Major Enquiry Team, said: “From what we know so far, Mr Siarczlyski had been living in the UK for the last 12 years and, as of July 2014, was living in Huddersfield Road in Halifax.

“We are keen to hear from any friends, colleagues or associates of Mr Siarczlyski who may be able to help us paint a picture of his lifestyle as we continue to investigate the circumstances leading up to his death.

“Anyone with information is asked to call the Homicide and Major Enquiry Team via 101.

“Information can also be given anonymously to independent charity Crimestoppers via 0800 555 111.”
