A blaze ripped through a house in Knottingley.

Three fire engines were called to Hazel Road last night (Thursday).

And the fire left the house gutted.

A spokeswoman for West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service confirmed they are investigating the incident.

Crews from Normanton, Featherstone and Wakefield were called to help extinguish the flames , at around 11.32pm.

No-one is thought to have been injured .

Mark Hutley, 62, lives nearby.

He said the home had been empty for few weeks.

Mr Hutley said: “People have been messing around at the back of the house for a while now because it wasn’t completely secure.

“I’m concerned now because the front door and window is gone now after the fire and it is wide open.

“It’s a real target now for arsonists and vandals.”
