WAS it a bird? Was it a plane ? Or was it a superhero?
No - it was just the youngsters at West End Primary school in Hemsworth.
Children at School all came to school dressed as their favourite characters as part of Children’s Book Week.
Batman and Wolverine made an appearance along with many other home-made creations.
Teacher at the school, Karen Affleck, said: “We are hoping that these fun activities will inspire our children to want to read and enjoy more books.
“It is absolutely essential to get them reading and hopefully this week will make them want to read in the future.”
The school also arranged different reading and book themed activities all week.
The children visited the local library to understand the importance of reading. Mrs Affleck said:“All of the school were involved from foundation to year six and all the children really seemed to enjoy it.”
Parents also came to the school with their children during the week.
They read books alongside their children and the week finished with a celebration of reading assembly.
Children’s Book Week is run by the Booktrust.
