Airedale Computers has launched a festive campaign to help community projects across the Express area.

The social enterprise will be giving away 25 complete refurbished computer systems before Christmas.

The firm is now looking for nominations from the community for good causes to donate them to.

The scheme was recently backed by Pontefract and Castleford MP Yvette Copper, who visited as part of the Social Saturday initiative, which encourages people to buy from social enterprises and businesses that put people and planet first.

She helped to launch the computer giveaway and made her own nomination.

Ms Cooper also met with Airedale Computers development manager Keith Sorrell.

Airedale Computers was launched in 2002 with the aim of helping to retrain long term unemployed and get them back into the jobs market.

It now provides work experience placements for local schools and has three computer shops selling and repairing new and refurbished computers and laptops.

The free computers, with a monitor, keyboard and mouse, will come loaded with Windows 7, Open Office and one year of free Bullguard internet security.

Groups can come from anywhere within the Wakefield Council area and can include local charities, individuals with exceptional circumstances, scouts or guides groups, and neighbourhood groups.

Email nominate@airedalecomputers.com with your nomination and a few lines on why you chose them.
