South Elmsall girl in the swim for medals

A NINE-year-old girl from South Elmsall took home a string of medals from the Yorkshire Swimming Championships.
Phoebe Winter, of Caddon Avenue, took part in the competition at Ponds Forge, Sheffield, on Sunday, March 21.

The youngster, who trains six days a week and swims competitively for Adwick Swimming Club and Doncaster Dartes, swam in nine races and seven finals.

The Carlton J&I pupil took home silver in the 200m butterfly, bronze in the 200m individual medley and gold in the 50m butterfly.

Her gold medal time was 38.3 seconds – the fastest time this year by a nine-year-old girl in England.
