OFFENDERS on probation have given something back to society by helping to modernise a community building in South Elmsall.
A team of six offenders from West Yorkshire Probation Service has saved South Elmsall Town Council thousands of pounds by working for free to decorate Weston Hall, on Westfield Lane.
They have spent 465 hours painting, decorating and cleaning the building under the probation service's community payback scheme.
Wendy Cotterill, South Elmsall town clerk, said: "It wanted brightening up.
"They have done a really good job painting throughout the building and
cleaning the windows.
"We are trying to get more youth services in South Elmsall and we will continue to consider using Weston Hall."
