FIREFIGHTERS called to a house fire in Upton today (Thursday) desperately tried to revive a 34-year-old mum who was in the property.
But the woman, who has not yet been named by police, died at the scene on Malton Road.

Firefighters from South Elmsall, Hemsworth and Pontefract were called out to the blaze, which started in the kitchen, at about 1.10am.

They found the woman, who was at home alone, in an upstairs bedroom but their efforts to resuscitate her were unsuccessful.

The Wakefield Coroner has been informed of the death and investigations into the cause of the fire are ongoing.
