A CHARITY evening in memory of a South Kirkby man is being held in Moorthorpe on Saturday (July 31).
The event, at the Moorthorpe Recreation Club on Langthwaite Lane, will include a performance from glam rock band Mr Blitz and The Band With No Name.

The evening has been organised in memory of hospice patient Carl Spencer, known as Bib, who died in November 2009.

The hospice provides specialist, palliative care for people with terminal or life-limiting illnesses in the Express area.

Wayne Richardson, drummer with The Blitz, came up with the idea for the fundraiser.

He said: "At the end of last year, I decided to do some charity work and at that time our bass player, Jamie, lost his father, Carl Spencer to cancer.

"Carl, who lived in South Kirkby, was so well cared for by the Hospice that it seemed fitting to hold this event in Carl's memory and raise some money for the Hospice."

Tickets are £3 and are available on the door or in advance from the South Elmsall Prince of Wales Hospice shop and the club.
