Cleaning charges

WITH regard to the money allocated to our combined area committee, which has not been spent, the Birstall and Birkenshaw councillors probably know what they want to do with their share, Birstall centre regeneration for example, for which talks have already begun.

The Batley councillors should be asking why local organisations such as TRAs do not attend the area committee meetings. I have requested that this issue be raised at a tenant committee forum, at which I am a delegate.

Our local TRAs have expressed strong opposition to the idea of a communal area cleaning charge, indeed some tenants are saying that they will refuse to pay. We are told that some areas are dirty and not cleaned regularly. What KNH is not saying is their inability to make bad tenants clean up, but they want the good tenants to subsidise the costs from which there is no opt-out.
