I LIVE in South Elmsall and totally agree about the state of our streets and verges.

We have to accept that now it is the norm to have all the fast food takeaways in our area, we will always have wrappers. cups, bottles and other items people discard onto the footpath or road.
I walk down High Street on a regular basis and just past the last row of houses on the right-hand side, walking towards the town, the embankment leading down to the backs of the houses on the Manor estate is a disgrace.
If you walk further down and look into the beck that runs through the town it is no wonder that we have floods – there's more rubbish.
These are the areas people of any importance turn a blind eye to. This is only one area in South Elmsall, but as you walk around there are other areas just the same.
Brian Newcombe,
29 Hillfold Street,
South Elmsall
