Have the lunatics finally taken over the asylum?
Plans to build a new health centre on the entrance to a busy industrial estate are unbelievable! Whoever came up with that idea knows nothing of the potential risks to people's health and safety that will arise from accessing this health centre.

How will the old and infirm and parents with toddlers cross the busy access road safely, when HGVs, along with other vehicles, are driving in and out? Not forgetting that permission to extend the capacity of the industrial estate has already been passed.

Would they put a pelican crossing on the access road to cause further congestion on Barnsley Road, which is full of standing traffic at peak times?

Worse still, the HGVs would be held at any such crossing on an incline and when they get a green light they would be struggling to set off, belching thick black exhaust fumes over and adjacent to the area of the health centre. That's not very healthy is it?

We now come to the alternative locations. There is a piece of land next to Brown's Coaches at the junction of Stockingate and Barnsley Road. This would be far safer for pedestrians to access. The other option would be on the land at 'he Green on the area behind the bus stop/toilets. That is where the fun fair stands which (if you live near to it) is not fun and certainly not fair, attracting anti-social behaviour.

Either piece of land could be sold to the health authority to help ensure the safety of visitors and benefit the local community. The money raised could be used to reduce the huge parish precept we pay to live between two industrial estates.
