ERE we go again with our regular weekly look around what's on in our area on the live entertainment front.
We start at Ferrybridge Progressive Club, where this weekend's Sunday night show sees an appearance from that very funny and tuneful entertainer Stuart Eden.
There are lots of singers who think they are funny. There are lots of comedians who think they can sing.
There aren't many entertainers who successfully combine the two disciplines and make an act out of them.
Stuart is one of the successful few.
That seasoned entertainer Joel McQueen knows his business and is always a good bet for a night out. Pontefract Ex-Servicemen's is his destination on Sunday night.
It's glam rock time at Pontefract Sports and Social Club, on Chequers Close, on Sunday night as those weirdly-dressed rockers Tiger Feet will be the star attraction, so be early!
It's comedy time at Girnhill Lane Club in Featherstone on Sunday night and Sneezewort is the act providing the laughs.
Where would you be without a laugh? Given the present grim news in the economy, you could do yourselves a favour by enjoying a good chuckle and Sneezewort are certainly a very funny act.
Among acts doing the business at the moment are Siobhan Phillips and Ali Jordan.
Siobhan has been off globe-trotting on the cruise ships and Ali's new agent, Ashley Wheelhouse, tells me he is expecting busy times ahead for this glamourous singer.
Star duo White Lies are always worth a look and Willow Park Club in Pontefract is the right place to see this polished twosome on Sunday night.
The blokes in Cutsyke should be happy this weekend as glamourous all-girl act Seventh Heaven is the star attraction at the club on Sunday evening.
There are plenty of boy bands and singing hunks around these days, but why should the girls have all the fun?
Local band Carefree are doing very well on their club travels at the moment and their bass player Mark Ellis is involved in a very exciting new project.
The band is made up of Rob Dooler, Mark's dad, Graham Ellis, and, of course, Mark himself.
I received an e-mail from Mark the other day in which he let me know about a book he is planning to write about his exploits in the clubs.
Additionally, Mark also pointed out a website that he is asking clubgoers to have a look at.
It's at www.clubhistorians.co.uk and is definitely worth a look.
The person behind the site is Dr Ruth Cherrington and I was already aware of both the site and Ruth's work in this area, as I recently interviewed her on behalf of another publication.
Perhaps Express readers may be interested in taking a look at the site, on which you can see some contributions from Mark and his band.
Other local events this week include the sad news of the death of local musician Jeff Siddons. Jeff was the bass guitarist with The Sundowners, along with fellow musician Billy Fonda, whose funeral was mentioned in last week's Express.
Jeff's pal, Dave Gascoigne, was in touch with the sad news and he also pointed out Jeff was, of course, present at Billy's funeral.
Jeff played with The Sundowners, before joining another band, The Flintstones.
He hung up his bass in 1984 and his last gig was a fundraiser at Moorthorpe Recreation Club during the miners' strike.
I'm sure everyone will spare a thought for Jeff's family at this difficult time.
If you have any news or views for this column I would like to hear from you.
