Local charity fundraiser Denis Gabriel is undergoing heart surgery in Leeds this week.
Denis wrote to me explaining why his usual level of activity on behalf of the BBC Children In Need appeal was curtailed this year.
Denis always organises the charity shows at Glasshoughton wmc and I'm sure that all his friends in the club sector will be wishing him a speedy recovery.
Kinsley Coronation Club has a night to look forward to on Christmas Eve when popular singer Ashton will be the star attraction.
Many clubs don't book high-profile attractions for Christmas Day these days, but at Kinsley Coronation they are bucking the trend by booking all-male act Dance Nation.
If you like a bit of horror with your rock music, then look no further than Moorthorpe Empire Club, where top band Beetlejoos will top the bill on Sunday night.
Moorthorpe do book a lot of top band attractions, but the occasional solo act makes it on to their stage on Saturday nights.
Recently star attractions such as Tony Wayne and Natalie Brandon have appeared with some success.
I'm told that Natalie is having her first baby in the new year and that she and her entertainer husband, James Brandon, are both thrilled to bits. Good luck to the happy couple and their new addition.
I was very sorry to hear that clubland singing star Sam Sorono had died in hospital after a long illness.
I remember Sam first coming to this country from his native Phillipines back in the early 80s, when his agent was Halifax-based Sonia Peters.
Sam went on to fame and notoriety in the hit TV show Stars In Their Eyes, where he appeared as Tom Jones.
Before his death, Sam was visited in hospital by his great friends, the comedians Billy Pearce and Paul Shane.
Sam's death was cancer-related. I'm sure that everyone in clubland will spare a thought for Sam's family at this difficult time.
Finally for this week, I received a call from local club official Johnnie Towler, who is concert secretary at Ladybalk Social Club in Pontefract.
Johnnie read about the recent fundraising at the Jim Tomlin tribute night, which I compered at Prince of Wales wmc a few weeks ago.
Johnnie tells me that the lads at local power stations were also involved in a lot of fundraising work in connection with the Jim Tomlin evening and raised £685.
Johnnie also pointed out that a lot of the fundraising work was conducted by Pontefract singer Jo-Ann.
