The Wakefield and Pontefract Concert Secretaries Federation is leading a campaign, which it hopes will curb the fees entertainers demand over the Christmas period.

The federation is approaching other such organisations to impress upon entertainers and agents the need for restraint when negotiating Christmas and New Year's rates for club work.
I wonder what clubgoers think of entertainers fees in general?
On
ce the agents commissions, the travelling expenses, vehicle costs and equipment and other expenses are removed, as well as the income tax due on what remains, I wonder if people who enjoy their social lives in the clubs have any idea what the average act earns?
Its getting harder for entertainers to make a living and it's the same for everyone of course. Let's hope a satisfactory compromise can be reached.
Top entertainers Karen King, Jimmy Echo and Paul Somers are all lined up to entertain at Pontefract Ex-servicemen's Club over the next few weeks.
A look ahead at the coming month of entertainment at Willow Park Club makes very interesting reading, with a strong line-up consisting of, among others, Alistair Raine, Monty Scott and Steve Andrews.

Jesters in Ackworth is to stage a show feature well known tribute act The Benidorm Beatles.
The show is on April 17 and this particular fab four are also appearing in our area the following night when Featherstone Rovers RLFC will be the place to catch them in action.
Still on the band scene, and Moorthorpe Empire Club is looking forward to a night of Ska music as South Elmsall-based band Complete Madness is set to go One Step Beyond on Sunday.
Also appearing at the Empire later this month is top band Hollywood Nites and everyone's favourite duo Rio Madness.
Top duo Brotherhood, star North-East band Just A Girl and Heather Nixon's band Power and Soul are just a few of the attractions for the regular Sunday shows at Hemsworth Miners Social Club in Fitzwilliam.
