Our petitions were stolen
REGARDING my petition "Upton says no to Hemsworth".
On the subject of how we stand with Upton healthcare, I would like to thank everybody who signed the petition and all the shopkeepers etc who helped by getting their customers to sign.
Also I would like to thank my daughter, Joyce Hind who did all the legwork with her husband, Malcolm.
We did have a very good response but unfortunately most of petitions were stolen.
A petition was taken off the counter at the Post Office on High Street and the Butchers on the same street.
Someone entered into Shirley's Store, on Harewood Lane, and said they had to come and pick-up the petition, but was unknown to anyone.
At Cannings General Store, on Tom Wood Ash Lane, the petition was taken by an elderly man off the counter, but this was seen on CCTV and when he was asked what he had done with the petition he said he had thrown it in the bin.
I cannot believe this could happen and I am disgusted to think it has.
I have just one thing to say to this elderly gentleman: "I hope you need a doctor and there isn't one available at Upton and you have to travel to Hemsworth after a long wait."
We did finish with 200 signatures, but it would have been nice to see the full number.
Once again can I thank everyone who took the time to sign the petition.
Mavis Wyld,
St Paul's Close,
Upton
