My say on advert
I would like to respond to the advert at the back of last week's paper, run by Hemsworth Town Council, to highlight what it did not say.
It has identified 350,000 in 106 money for an athletics track, the possibility being that this money will be leaving our community to provide facilities for someone else.
On the town council there are people prepared to vote through this deal, which means the football pitches they want to build will be on rented land, which we will never own. Would they invest 1.2m of their money on something that they would not own?
The jewel in the crown is the community centre.
The town council has still not shown figures, which I have asked it to produce, showing to the penny what it is going to cost. I have a copy of a letter signed by the town clerk asking Wakefield Council for some of the money from the clawback agreement. Of course, we also have the parking issues.
In conclusion, if the town council truly believes it is right, why did it not give the community a vote by referendum?
