Is Asda price as good?

THE proposed takeover of the South Elmsall Netto in 2011 by Asda supermarkets may well be good news with regard to the local employment situation.

But it's bad news for hundred of shoppers in the area, whose prudence will be severely tested by the proposed change of ownership.

The South Elmsall Netto is invariably cheaper than all the other food outlets in the area, in addition to which there are numerous bargains to be purchased in their domestic, electrical, sporting and leisure sales.

When large chains purchase stores, which by their standards are clarified as small, there are invariably price rises.

Coun Wilf Benson should bear this in mind and realise that the purchase of Netto by Asda is a double-edged sword and won't benefit everyone.

Roy Sault,

South Elmsall
