Greyhound track is great
It was of interest to read the report 'Dog racing 'not cruel' says track owner' (Express, January 21).
I would suggest that Tony Peters, Greyhound Action UK's co-ordinator, was totally out of order with his call for closure of Kinsley Greyhound Stadium.
The stadium owner John Curran, with the joint help of his close family, organises and operates a greyhound stadium which is second to none in the UK.
John employs many local people who can vouch for him that he would not allow any form of animal cruelty at the stadium under any circumstances.
If all the greyhound tracks in the UK were to close, the breeding of greyhounds would stop and they would without doubt become extinct – is this what he advocates?
Why don't Mr Peters and Greyhound Action UK extend their cause and call for the closure of all horse racing tracks throughout the UK? Unfortunately many more horses die each week for various reasons.
In conclusion, in every animal sport around the world there will always be the risk of injury and sometimes death of an animal, but in reality, if all animal sports were stopped, surely the animal population would decrease dramatically.
