'Competitive' not 'cheap'!
In reply to Mr Warren's letter (Express, January 14), I totally agree with him on the issue of free speech.
But when heated bully-boy tactics are being used, that's a different matter at council meetings. I don't know if Mr Warren understands politics, that makes two of us, but I watched Newsnight on January 14 and the interviewer asked the opposition chancellor George Osborne five times the same question, and still didn't get the answer. Politics.
Maybe the Windsurfer was closed to cut the deficit due to the economic climate and reduce the town council rates, saving the electorate in their council tax.
Fortunately, I have lived at St Helen's Avenue for 64 years, a long time before the estate adjoining Tesco was built.
As to the wording of Tesco being 'cheap', I wouldn't use that word, instead I would use 'competitive', and to a lot of people it's been a God-send.
As to the residents being affected by the Tesco site, have a thought for the people in Asia with the tsunami disaster, the earthquake in Iran and the latest earthquake in Haiti.
These people haven't only lost their housing, but also their lives.
